Taxpayers can now more easily verify the data reported via the D406 SAF-T declaration

ANAF launches two new free applications

The National Agency for Fiscal Administration introduces two free applications designed to simplify the verification of data reported through the D406 SAF-T declaration.

They allow taxpayers to compare the information in the SAF-T with that in the D300 VAT return, so that any errors can be identified before submitting the declarations.

Data verification before submission

The first application, dedicated to verifying the D406 declaration, helps taxpayers analyze whether the reported information is complete and correct.

Rapid correction of inconsistencies reduces the risk of subsequent non-compliance notifications.

The second application generates a verification form similar to the VAT return, built based on the data in the SAF-T, facilitating direct comparison with the D300 declaration.

The applications and necessary documentation can be downloaded from the ANAF portal, in the SAF-T section: LINK

The impact on taxpayers

The prior verification allows taxpayers to avoid compliance issues, and ANAF to focus its controls on situations with real tax risk.

Of the approximately 870,000 companies that must submit SAF-T, approximately 580,000 (approx. 67%) also submit the VAT return.

Now they can identify potential differences between reports in advance and correct them before submitting the declarations.

Clarifications regarding use and testing phase

ANAF specifies that the applications are designed to support taxpayers in the internal verification process, before transmitting the data to the institution.

The verifications are carried out exclusively on the user’s computer, without the information being automatically sent to ANAF at this stage.

The aim is to facilitate the identification and correction of errors, encourage voluntary compliance and simplify taxpayers’ interaction with the tax administration.

The applications are being tested between September and November 2026, and the institution is seeking feedback from users.

Observations and complaints can be sent to saft@anaf.ro. The tools are available in the SAF-T section of the ANAF portal. The ANAF press release can be viewed here.
